Precision CNC milling services handle metals and plastics for demanding details. High-strength S235, S355, and C45 steel are common for large, less demanding parts. C45 steel offers heat treatment for wear resistance. Lightweight aluminum is precisely milled faster than steel. Discover the right material for your project needs.

CNC milling

We offer CNC milling of metals and plastics. Experience gained over the years gives us the ability to meet very demanding details. We have the right machines for milling large as well as small parts.

Milling of S235, S355 and C45 steel is the most common service we offer. These materials are usually used for major but less demanding parts. Instrument bodies, injection molds, punches, stamping dies and for welded parts. Relatively low price, high strength, weldability, easy availability and sufficient properties make these grades the most popular choice for designers. Steel C45 (1.1730 / 1.0503), unlike S235/S355, is suitable for heat treatment – so-called hardening – to increase hardness. This is the steel of choice for medium-duty and more wear-resistant parts – shafts, axles, spindles, rollers, rotors.

Just as often we perform precision milling of aluminum. So, too, we specify several grades depending on the expected properties, and this translates into the method of processing. Aluminum is the most graceful type of metal to cut.

The main feature of all aluminum grades is its low weight with relatively good strength. Milling aluminum compared to machining steel is much faster due to its low hardness. When cutting aluminum, the tools – milling cutters, milling heads and drills – wear dozens of times slower than when machining any steel. Examples of aluminum grades are PA4 (6082), PA6 (2017), PA9 (7075), PA11 (5754), PA13 (5083), PA38 (6060).

Who cares about ISO certification when choosing a CNC Partner?

The ISO 9001 certificate is a key requirement for many manufacturing companies when selecting a CNC Partner. Industries such as automotive place great importance on it. Understanding who this requirement applies to and why allows for an assessment of risk. Certification impacts real production results and safety.

How to select cutting parameters for CNC milling of hard steels?

CNC milling of hardened steels above 45 HRC requires precise selection of parameters. The proper cutting speed Vc, feed per tooth fz, and depth of cut ap determine the surface quality and tool life. A Vc that is too high or too low leads to machining problems. What factors influence the optimal Vc?

Is CNC milling cost-effective for custom, one-off production?

CNC milling makes sense in single-unit production when a part is geometrically complex or requires tight tolerances. Alternatives often do not exist, and a single precision part can have high value. An analysis of machine-hour costs and project requirements determines profitability. Understanding these factors is crucial.

What dimensional accuracy does CNC metal machining provide?

Dimensional tolerance in CNC metal machining defines the permissible deviation of a part from its nominal dimension. It ensures the reliability of equipment where an error of hundredths of a millimeter disqualifies the component. Modern machines achieve a precision of ±0.01 mm. Learn what influences accuracy and what the ISO tolerance classes are.

What dimensional tolerances are achieved with CNC grinding?

CNC grinding achieves tolerances on the order of a few micrometers, which ensures the necessary precision. This method allows for the production of parts with strict control of dimensional deviations. Numerical control systems make it possible to achieve repeatability of less than 0.02 mm. When is CNC grinding better than milling for steel machining?

CNC grinding is superior to milling when machining hardened steel above 60 HRC. This process allows for dimensional tolerances on the order of a few micrometers. When accuracy to ±0.005 mm is required, grinding becomes the only rational choice. It allows for achieving very smooth surfaces.
